Hello my loves!

The day has come to travel through our SIS time machine directly to 1979, the year of our Happy Hour birthday girl, Cilla Makes, was born.

As today’s Flashback is dedicated to a very special person, let’s take a look back at the most striking events from 1979 to 2018, in her life and in the world!

SIS’ note: this Flashback is very special, not only because it will speak about one of us (Cilla), but because with it, YOU (our readers) can see how much you have in common with other people! I, Alex, while writing this post, saw that I have much more in common with Cilla than I had imagined! If we had access to the same information of all our birthday ones from every week, we could show how much we, “normal” people, have in common with the celebrities we love so much, because in the end we are all the same!

So, let’s start:

  • World

UN proclaimed, in 1979, the International Year of the Child (that’s probably why Cilla loves children so much).

In this same year, Margaret Thatcher became the first woman to be elected Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

As it was a year full of wonderful events, beginning with Cilla’s birth, it was in this same year that Mother Teresa of Calcutta received the Nobel Peace Prize.

  • Movies & TV

The 51st Oscar Awards Ceremony took place where “The Deer Hunter” (1978) won as Best Picture, Jane Fonda as Best Actress and Jon Voight as Best Actor.

It was in that year that two great international actresses were born, our beloved Caitriona Balfe and Kate Hudson.

Some Brazilian artists who also share her birthday are Juliana Paes and Ricardo Pereira, who is actually Portuguese, but in our hearts is also Brazilian.

As a child, Cilla liked the Xuxa movie, “Crystal Moon” (1990) and “Trapalhões“.

Currently, her list of favorite life-long films includes names such as “Labyrinth” (1986), “Braveheart” (1995) and “The Matrix” (1999).

Cilla‘s favorite cartoons as she was growing up were “Wildfire” (1986), “Dungeons & Dragons” (1983-1985) and “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” (1983-1985).

Today, her list of favorite series is very vast and includes classics such as “Bewitched” (1964-1972) and more current ones, such as “Friends” (1994-2004) and “Dexter” (2006-2013).

But her favorite series, the number ONE, the best, the unbeatable is “Outlander” (2014-), of course… She is such a fan, that although she has not been a SIS member since her original formation, she is one of the oldest SISters in the group.

  • Music

In 1979, the Pink Floyd group released the most famous album of their career and possibly one of the most famous in history, called The Wall.

The Billboards’ Top 10 this year were:

    1. My Sharona” – The Knack
    2. Bad Girls” – Donna Summer
    3. Le Freak” – Chic
    4. Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” – Rod Stewart
    5. Reunited” – Peaches & Herb
    6. I Will Survive” – Gloria Gaynor
    7. Hot Stuff” – Donna Summer
    8. Y.M.C.A.” – Village People
    9. Ring My Bell” – Anita Ward
    10. Sad Eyes” – Robert John

P!nk and Adam Levine were also born on 1979, two great names of the current musical scene.

During her childhood, Cilla‘s favorite artists were Balão Mágico, Sandy & Junior and Carrusel.

Over the years, she expanded her musical taste and began to listen to the most diverse Brazilian styles, such as Engenheiros do Hawaii and Cássia Eller, and international artists such as Gun’s n’ Roses (that was a surprise!!) and Shakira.

Nowadays, her favorite artists are Adele, U2, Lady Gaga and Bon Jovi.

  • Fashion

Cilla‘s style is vast, ranging from basic jeans to the most complex and fancy look, varying according to her mood… Please, just don’t forget the lipstick!

  • Sports

When we talk about sports, we soon imagine the most common ones, like soccer, volleyball and basketball, but Cilla has always been an open-minded person who thinks outside the box, and became an ARCHER!!! How bold! Way to go Cilla!!! No wonder you are a SIS!

She was also a belly dancer.

We could make a wonderful documentary about the retrospective of Cilla‘s life and the variety and interesting things that have happened over the years.

While this documentary is only in our dreams, we are going to enjoy the Happy Hour and a week full of surprises for our beloved SISTER!
